Advanced Citizen Science Campaigns onboard Mediterranea- Route 2023

Among the vertical projects-that is, those that branch off from the 4 main objectives of Mediterranea Project: cultural, scientific, nautical and social-which are carried out on board Mediterranea during the annual route, workshops are those that involve the crew in educational, creative and social activities.

Regarding the scientific branch of the workshops, there are 2 Advanced Citizen Science campaigns in the weeks of sailing between Bar and Vlora (Montenegro-Albania) and in the one between Corfu and Lefkada (Greece), specifically dedicated to marine protected areas, identification of marine flora and fauna, and educational snorkeling activities. The two campaigns are curated by Dr. Martina Gaglioti, marine biologist, field educator and science popularizer and member of the National Decade Committee (NDC) for the Decade of the Sea – UNESCO.
