Mediterranean Day event: Round-table discussion and concert by Basma-Orwa- Atanasovski

Start date: 11/28/2022
End date: 11/28/2022

Invitation to mark the Mediterranean Day, on 28 November 2022, at Cankarjev dom.
At 18:30 a round-table discussion will be held on the importance of intercultural dialogue in the Mediterranean and the binding power of art, moderated by journalist Kristina Božič.

Panellists:
Ambassador Mateja Prevolšek, Head of Department for Africa and the Middle East at Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Jerneja PENCA, PhD, Associate Professor and Head of Academic Affairs at the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI),
Ervin Hladnik Milharčič, journalist,
Orwa Saleh, Syrian musician.

The multicultural trio of virtuoso musicians Basma-Orwa-Atanasovski will begin their concert at 20:00.

The exceptional Syrian musicians based in Vienna, Basma Jabr and Orwa Saleh transform the charismatic ancient Arabic tunes into a perfect harmony and a sensual musical journey, on which they will be joined by the Slovenian musician Vasko Atanasovski on saxophone/flute.
The musical mysticism will take you beyond the boundaries of what is possible, where only music can take you, on a journey to the old cities where the West meets the East.

Admission is free of charge, but you need to book your tickets by filling-out the attached form and submitting it by clicking Submit:
From 21 November 2022 until one hour before the start of the event, tickets may be collected at the Cankarjev Dom ticket office and on its website; from 17:30, the tickets will be distributed in the lobby of the Cankarjev Dom.

The Basma-Orwa-Atanasovski concert is one of the 36 concerts that will be held simultaneously in 25 Euro-Mediterranean countries with the aim of celebrating the diversity of the Mediterranean and enhancing mutual ties.

The event is organised by Zavod APIS in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the financial support of the Anna Lindh foundation in the framework of the international Mediterranean Day, an initiative of the Union for the Mediterranean.
