Izmir Mediterranean Biennial

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality (Turkey), in cooperation with K2 Contemporary Art Center, is organizing the first Izmir Mediterranean Biennial between 21 March and 7 May, 2023. Izmir Mediterranean Biennial makes the cultural and artistic capacity of the region visible by strengthening the relations between those living in the Mediterranean through art. The first Izmir Mediterranean Biennial is composed of three main pillars: Main Exhibition curated by Caroline David under the theme of “Looking at the Same Water,” that will consist of the works of artists under 35 as well as the works of several established artists from Mediterranean countries; Workshops in Creative Areas coordinated by creative professionals residing and producing in Izmir and the documentation exhibition of these workshops; and Events and Trainings.

On November 28, 2022 – Mediterranean Day, the Launch Event of the Biennial will be held in Izmir.
