Religious Communities, Dialogue and Sustainability

Start date: 10/12/2021
End date: 10/12/2021

On October 12th, 2021, at the Multifunctional Hall of the Municipality of Ventotene (which granted the patronage to the initiative), experts and institutional representatives of both national and international level have discussed a series of projects and initiatives on inter-religious dialogue and sustainable development during the event Religious Communities, Dialogue and Sustainability. The Representation of the European Commission in Italy, together with the association Mediterranean Perspectives (MP), and Cooperica – both members of the Italian Network for Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue (RIDE), Head of the Anna Lindh Foundation in Italy, which granted the patronage – have co-organized the event in the context of the Third edition of the annual Euro-Mediterranean inter-institutional initiative Ponza Prima-Med 2021. The initiative – which received the medal of the Italian President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella – promotes the historical and political role and the community value of the Pontine Archipelago, where 80 years ago Altiero Spinelli, at the time confined in the archipelago (Ponza 1937-1939, Ventotene 1939-1943), wrote his famous Manifesto for a free and united Europe, whose values inspire the initiative, in cooperation with Mrs. Silvia Costa, Special Commissioner of the Government for the requalification of the former Bourbonic prison on the island of Santo Stefano in Ventotene.
