Young people transforming the Mediterranean. Awards ceremony for the «A Sea of Words» contest
- Country: Spain
- City: Barcelona
The winners of the last two editions of the Euro-Mediterranean literary contest “A Sea of Words“, co-organized by IEMed and the Anna Lindh Foundation, will meet in Barcelona on November 30 to attend an award ceremony.
The event includes a debate among the winners on the common aspirations of young people in the Mediterranean and on their point of view on the future of the region, especially on sustainable development, climate change and mobility in the Mediterranean, themes on which the last two editions of the contest revolved.
The event, which takes place at the Museu Marítim de Barcelona, also features a musical performance by a vocal and instrumental quartet that performs Arab and North African music. Starting with original instruments such as the ud, the qanun and traditional percussions, various minorities like the Kurdish and Sephardic people travel through music and bring us closer to countries such as Syria or Algeria based on classical and traditional pieces.
The event is attended by Nasser Kamel, Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UpM), Victoria Alsina, Minister of Foreign Action and Open Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Antón Leis, director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), Enric Garcia, general director of the Barcelona Maritime Museum (MMB), Josep Ferré, executive director of the Anna Lindh Foundation (FAL) and Senén Florensa, executive president of the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), who also present the awards to the young winners.
